NWO grant awarded for the PhD project across Social Psychology and Child Development and Education
The PhD project is named “Teachers’ role in classroom’s cultural climate and its effects on pupils’ school engagement”. In this project, Ceren will investigate cognitive and emotional teacher factors in promoting integration and school engagement of specifically pupils from ethnic minority backgrounds, and will develop an intervention aimed at increasing teachers’ competencies in dealing with diversity. The project is funded by an NWO (The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) grant via Research Priority Area Yield, with Prof. Monique Volman of the Child Development and Education as the main promoter, and Prof. Agneta Fischer of Social Psychology as the co-promoter.
