Are you active in a climate or environmental group? Join our resilient activism study!
In this short video we explain you more about the study:
We are interested in how people feel who engage in climate activism. We aim to answer these questions: Does activism make us feel better or worse? Which emotions make us engage more? How do we deal with the emotions that we feel in relation to political action? When do people develop activist burnout?
You will fill out a first survey (10 min) mainly about your engagement, then two weeks a quick daily survey (3 min) on your feelings and daily actions, and after three months a final survey (5 min) as in the beginning and an optional online group call for 1h. All your answers will be anonymized and cannot be tracked back to you anymore.

The study is led by Anna Sach and Linli Zhou, two PhD researchers at the University of Amsterdam. We both study climate action and emotions. Anna focuses on the drivers and experiences of climate activism, Linli investigates how feeling positive and doing something for the climate are related with each other. We are part of the Amsterdam Interdisciplinary Centre on Emotion. We closely work together with climate movements and support with research and advice, for example as part of the Extinction Rebellion Data Analysis and Insights Circle.
The wider team consists of the professors Disa Sauter, Cameron Brick and Nils Jostmann, whose expertise is on emotions, pro-environmental behaviors and motivation, respectively.
